Jim Thorpe

The 20th century football legend, Jim Thorpe, a Potawatomi who won two Olympic gold medals, played professional baseball and professional football, and would later become the president of the league that is now known as the NFL.  Jim Thorpe is considered to be one of the best athletes in the history of professional sports. 

His Native American name was Wa-tho-huck (Jim) he was born in 1888 in Oklahoma.  His daughter is Grace Thorpe and she is from the Citizen Band of Potawatomi.  Reading the link called "Grace Thorpe Link" you will see a list of Potawatomi that have in many instances become famous, and this is only a fraction of the nine tribes celebrities.
