Archbishop Charles J. Chaput is a member of the Prairie Band of Potawatomi, he became a ordained priest in 1970. Pope John Paul II appointed him bishop of Rapid City, South Dakota in 1988 and archbishop of Denver, making him the First Native American archbishop.
Chaput also served for three years for the White House as U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom. Chaput has also authored many well known books.
